ENG Group Companies International Medical Products
International Medical Products (IMP) is a developer, manufacturer and marketer of disposable medical devices that are imported from the Far East and distributed throughout Russia from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg. IMP was founded in 1998 at the time of the ruble crisis to take advantage of market instability. The company owners identified the medical device market as a dynamic, growing field with comparatively low access requirements, rapidly increasing demand and fast turnover. In the year 2000, International Medical Products created its own brand, IMP, which emerged as one of the first Russian brands of disposable medical products. Currently, IMP possesses one of the largest Russian-owned brands dealing in this product line. Today IMP distributes dozens of assorted medical products for use in such areas as injection therapy, surgery, and urology, among others. In 2008, IMP sales totaled US$17.8 million.
Besides Russia, the company operates in the markets of disposable medical goods in Serbia and Byelorussia.
The company presently has approximately 40 employees.
Quality Control.
In order to keep IMP products on the cutting edge of today’s technology, IMP regularly conducts quality reviews to assess the raw materials, components and finished goods in its production division. All products undergo independent quality tests twice: once before shipment and again after arrival to distributors. IMP has opened additional quality control departments in Russia and Serbia. The company handles issues ranging from research and development to materials selection and clinical trials at each stage of the production cycle. All IMP products have gained approval from healthcare agencies in the countries where they are sold.
Smart Logistics.
Generally, medical disposables have been purchased in Europe, then shipped to St. Petersburg and Moscow and distributed eastward. However, these goods were produced in Asia, making such distribution inefficient. To solve the logistic problem of distance from sourcing, beginning in 2001 IMP set up a network of warehouses in Russia’s major transportation points. Currently a chain of warehouses exists in Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and St. Petersburg. Since 2002, goods have landed at Port Vostochny in the Far East and shipped from Nakhodka via the trans-Siberian railroad. IMP was the first company to solve the logistic problem in Russia in an innovative way.
